"Queen of Babble in the Big City" by Meg Cabot

This fun and entertaining book is the second in Cabot's
"Queen of Babble" series. It continues the story of recent college
graduate Lizzie Nichols, who is going off to NYC in hopes of landing her
dream job and progressing her dream romance. This story is very funny and
exciting as Lizzie is forced to survive some stressful yet amusing
situations. A great read and satisfying sequel. I can't wait to find out
what happens next in the series!

"Mademoiselle Boleyn" by Robin Maxwell

This is an excellent historical account!I absolutely love Robin Maxwell's work. She's a dedicated author and historian who relies on facts to weave her tales. She brings humanity to Anne Boleyn's character and makes the reader feel the emotions of each character. I feel this book is a well researched representation and should be given the popularity that other "undeserved" Anne Boleyn accounts receive.

"The Five People You Meet in Heaven" by Mitch Albom

I felt this book was strange yet intriguing. This story was inspirational and strange at the same time. It was a nice narrative that made you ponder the truth behind living this life. The characters are quite symbolic and leaves the reader thinking more after the story is through.

"Queen of Babble" by Meg Cabot

What a hilarious story! I loved reading about a young woman who with all her insecurities, still stays true to herself. The main character evolves throughout the story and you will laugh and root for her during her exciting journey. Cabot's womanly insight is right on. She does an extremely good job of relating to the reader while bringing to light the silly and stupid mistakes of being young.

"Murder on a Girls' Night Out" by Anne George

I listened to the audio book "Murder on a Girls' Night Out by Anne George.
This is the first "southern sisters" series book I've "read". It was so enjoyable, I've checked out another. These two 60-something sisters get themselves into jams and solve a murder while trying to find husbands for their adult daughters.

"Postern of Fate" by Agatha Christie

I just finished Agatha Christie's "Postern of Fate." I'm an Agatha Christie fan, but this was not one of my favorites. It was published in 1978, so it was one of her later works, and I've decided I definitely like her early ones better. The story was not very engaging; two-thirds of the way through I still felt like I wasn't into it. Several details seemed to change during the book, like it wasn't edited properly. Several monologues by characters didn't seem to fit at all. All in all, not one I would probably read again. But it was the end of a quasi-series, so at least I finished it

"The Black Swan" by Nassim Nicholas Taleb

Have you ever sat in a corporate five-year planning meeting and wondered if everyone present was wasting their time? Do you watch the news and feel easily swayed by the analysis and predictions of "experts" but don't know how to critically judge their accuracy and value? Does the apparent randomness and risk of everyday life sometimes cause you to react or overreact instead of think clearly?
"The Black Swan" by Nassim Nicholas Taleb bears the subtitle: "The Impact of the Highly Improbable." Although it may be highly improbable that you will try to answer the questions above by picking up what might appear to be an extremely academic and technical tome, it is very likely that if you do, you will find yourself delighted and suprised by how fascinating and accessible this book is! Taleb will challenge traditional thinking on many levels with regard to how we put our trust in experts, financial "wizards," corporate planners and predictors, even trusted news services, but he does so in a painless, almost folksy manner that belies his high level of scholarship and logic. Topics as wide-raning as luck, chance, fairness and personal success are covered.
Readers may find themselves following Taleb's "expert" advice to factor in what is not said or not immediately obvious when assessing everything from world events to their own lives after reading this worthwhile book.

National Geographic "Amazing Planet" (DVD)

This is one of the most facinating TV series ever created. National Geographic has created a virtual time machine which takes us back to the origin of the earth. It gives useful info such as how continents were created, how oceans formed, and what are geographic fault lines. I would recommend it to everyone who is interested in knowing the origin of the earth.
